| The Brick Awards |
| |
| The Brick Award was developed by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club
to recognize the contribution a business makes to the community when it constructs, expands, renovates, or otherwise improves its facility. Interior or exterior improvements which evidence
a commitment to the Bay Area qualify a business for a Brick Award. The business does not
have to be a member of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce; however, its facility must be
located in Bay County. |

Recruiting and retaining the best and the brightest employees – a goal that all businesses share. But what’s the best way to accomplish that? By increasing employee satisfaction!
And one way to increase employee satisfaction is to institute family friendly practices and policies that will help employees balance work and family issues. Research clearly shows that family friendly initiatives work and are an investment in long-term benefits for the employee, employer, and the community.
To recognize employers for “stretching” their businesses by implementing family friendly initiatives, the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce created the Family Friendly Employer Award, to be given on an annual basis. Why apply? Recipients will receive recognition as employers that care – to help with employee attraction and retention; and we’ll promote your workplace through the many information resources available to the Chamber. |

| The Jerome L. Yantz Partner in Education Award |
| |
Jerome L. Yantz, a CPA with Weinlander Fitzhugh and a community leader, has spent his life dedicated to public education and inspiring others to be responsible for education of our youth. Whether it involved reading to students or passing a millage for school improvements, Jerome was always willing to give his time and his resources. He advocates community involvement in education and served for many years as the chairman of the Alliance for Bay County Schools, now the Chamber Business & Education Partnership. Jerome challenges the business community to become involved in education and is often heard suggesting that they “step up to the plate.” |

| Leadership Alumni Community Service Award |
| |
The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alumni Community Service Award was established in 1998 to honor individuals who exemplify the principles of “community leadership”. Leaders provide the vision, motivation, and skill to plan the future of communities and guide them through difficult times. Leadership ability can be found in anyone, from top level managers to grass roots activists. We are fortunate in our community to have the quantity and quality of leaders that have helped transform and shape a successful, prosperous present and future.
The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce has taken the lead since 1986 in training leaders for tomorrow, with the Leadership Bay County program. Nearly 400 graduates ago, the Chamber designed its Leadership Bay County program to identify, inform and provide opportunities for aspiring leaders in our community. The Leadership Alumni Community Service Award honors those individuals who
completed the program and went on to use their knowledge and skills to lead our community. |

| Ambassador of the Year and Team of the Year History Award: |
| |
The Ambassador Club plays a critical role in the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. An Ambassador’s primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison – a communication link - with the Chamber’s newest members. Ambassadors develop relationships with members, provide information, obtain input from them, answer questions or concerns, and help ensure members take full advantage of their membership.
In addition, Ambassadors greet members, guests, and the general public at Chamber events and functions. They are easily recognizable in their “green coats,” which helps guests find a friendly face and someone who is familiar with the Chamber. Other activities include presenting the Brick Award and conducting Ribbon Cutting ceremonies.
Individuals are selected to become an Ambassador based on their interest, dependability, integrity, energy and communication skills.
The Ambassador Club developed a “point” system to help them keep track of individual and team efforts of Club members. The Ambassador to receive the highest number of points in a calendar year is recognized as the Ambassador of the Year. |
