Class Description: Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was one of the most significant Founders, arguably second only to George Washington as most influential in getting this country established on a solid, positive foundation. He served as the first secretary of the treasury, and was considered by some to have been, in effect, prime minister in Washington. Yet, he had enemies who regarded him as a dangerous man with Napoleonic ambitions and a self-centered threat to justice and freedom. This course will cover the early years and Revolutionary War experience; the establishment of the new country; the Washington administration and the founding of the party system; and his last years and legacy. The class will be led by Northwood University history professor, John Pafford.

Registration is open now for all OLLI’s winter classes. More than 75 educational classes will be offered this winter by the SVSU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at SVSU starting in January 2013.  OLLI is a member-based organization that offers non-credit educational programs & travel opportunities for the over-50 population.  It is currently in its twelfth year of operation and has more than 1400 members.
