"Succession Planning Superheroes" Avoiding the Kryptonite of Assumed Immortality, Procrastination, and Indecision Featuring David Specht Director, Global Family Business Institute Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Io Graduate school of Management Claremont Graduate University, California Family business leaders may run their companies full-throttle -- "faster than a speeding bullet" -- but when it comes to deciding how to transition their business, many would prefer to hide in a phone booth. For the Stevens Center for Family Business's 2022-23 kick-off event, David Specht will take a somewhat humorous but nevertheless essential look at the crucial family business process of succession planning. He'll identify four all-too-common archetypes that family business leaders can display: Captain Immortal, Dr. Shhhhh, Oblivious Man, and Ms. Reality. He'll point out the existential dangers of ignoring succession planning and provide a framework for taking the steps necessary to preserve the family business legacy into future generations.
