Manager of Brian's House
Posted: 02/26/2023The House Manager is primarily responsible for directing the day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, guest care, training, scheduling, management and supervision of staff and volunteers. Maintain a close dialogue with local hospice providers in placing their patients and ensuring that all directives are followed as prescribed. Is on call 24/7 and may be required to work an irregular work schedule if needed.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule and support Brian’s House staff and volunteers. Assist with guest care. Initiate and plan staff and volunteer meetings and education services.
- Work closely with staff and hospice providers to plan, coordinate and deliver services to
Brian’s House guests and evaluate the delivery of all direct care to guests and ensure that all care prescribed by hospice providers to Brian’s House guests is properly documented.
- Maintain and update Brian’s House waiting list. Determine potential eligibility for admission. Provide candidates information regarding room and board payments and other costs associated with residing at Brian’s House.
- Perform administrative duties: o Develop, maintain and monitor a medical record system of Brian’s House guests. o Prepare and maintain billing information o Maintain guest, staff and volunteer personnel records with confidentiality.
- Provide tours of Brian’s House, presentations to outside organizations and groups.
- Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings to provide updates on Brian’s House.
Participate on specific tasks and events at the direction of the Board of Directors, President or committee chairperson as requested.
Qualifications
- Two years of health/medical related experience within the past five years with preferred knowledge of hospice philosophy and principles.
- Two years management experience within the past five years.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Require reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office. Speak fluent English.
Interpersonal Qualifications
- Provide leadership while encouraging a professional, positive attitude among staff by exhibiting good conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect and ethical behavior.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress, interpersonal issues of staff, guests and families, grief and loss issues.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform proper body mechanics with manual dexterity and mobility.
- Good physical health with the ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, sit, lift, grasp, perform repetitive motion involving lifting, pushing, pulling or carry objects weighing over 50 pounds with assist.
- Sensory perception – able to hear speech and sounds.
