• Affordable Health Care Expanded in Bay City

Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) has acquired the McLaren Bay Psychiatric Associates (MBPA) practice and building at 690 S. Trumbull St. in Bay City.  As MBPA becomes integrated as the newest GLBHC practice, we are excited to announce the new health care location and are honored to welcome current and new patients. Many current employees, including Dr. Ingram and Dr. Lathia along with other healthcare providers, will continue their full commitment to the health center and will continue to see their patients.
GLBHC, in conjunction with many community partners, continues to offer quality healthcare to everyone. The Great Lakes Bay Region as a whole has a need for more access to affordable behavioral health care.  GLBHC has established an excellent record of providing high quality, reliable, and compassionate care over our fifty-year history.  “We are excited to be able to expand high quality behavioral health counseling, medication management, and substance use disorder treatment to the Bay City community,” said Dr. Brenda Coughlin, President and CEO at GLBHC.  “This site, in addition to our already established locations for primary care and dental services, will help us truly Change Lives Because We Care,” added Coughlin.
“Great Lakes Bay Health Centers has a demonstrated history of excellent patient care and we believe this will increase the access for individuals seeking behavioral health care in our region” said Clarence Sevillian, Regional President at McLaren Bay Region.
GLBHC’s Behavioral Health Department provides a team approach toward patient-centered care. The treatment team is comprised of the primary care providers and behavioral health specialists. Master-level behavioral health clinicians provide psycho-social assessments and short-term individual and family counseling. Psychological evaluations and medication management provided by a behavioral health psychiatrist may also be incorporated into the patient’s care. In addition, the Behavioral Health Department provides community resource referrals for substance abuse detox and treatment and other community services.
GLBHC is the second largest Health Center organization in Michigan, and has 30 health centers throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond, including Bad Axe, Imlay City, and Owosso.  Our Bayside health center on Monitor Road and our Women’s Care health center in the McLaren Health Pavilion in Bay City have provided health care to Bay County residents for many years.  We offer primary care, dental care, behavioral health care, pharmacy services, vision, and much more.  We provide services that help our patients overcome barriers to accessing health care, such as insurance help, transportation, and translation. Our services meet or exceed national standards helping our patients receive better health outcomes.
Many of our centers are Patient Centered Medical Homes.  Our medical homes lead to higher quality care and lower costs.  We form partnerships between individual patients and their personal clinicians.  Each patient is cared for by clinician-led care teams, who provide for all the patient’s health care needs, and coordinate treatments across the health care system.  This PCMH Model is just another way we are providing “Quality Healthcare for Everyone”.
This new Behavioral Health Center is now open and taking new patients.  GLBHC Bay City South is located at 690 S.
