    Tuesday, February 26 1st State bank housed a celebration dinner at Apple Mountain Resort where twelve of this region’s young professionals joined a highly respected group of RUBY (Recognizing the Upward, Bright and Young) Award recipients. Eric Jylha presided over the program as master of ceremonies and presented the individuals with their award.

    Featured keynote speaker Reneé Johnston, President and CEO of the Saginaw Community Foundation offered insightful words for the recipients and the over 200 individuals in attendance. In addition to being honored at the celebration, recipients are featured in the March edition of the Great Lakes Bay Business magazine.

    The evening closed with 1st State Bank’s incoming President and CEO, Jim Milroy giving special recognition to retiring President and CEO, Rick Goedert for his inspiration to start the RUBY Award in 2005. Milroy spoke about Goedert’s passion for the Great Lakes Bay Region and his desire to highlight successful young professionals and entrepreneurs as evidence and inspiration to other young people in the Region to thrive and stay in the area. Since 2005, 160 people have received the RUBY Award.
