Chippewa Nature Center Partners with Creative 360 to Offer Nature-Based Programs

Chippewa Nature Center (CNC), located at 400 S Badour Rd in Midland, has partnered with Creative 360 to offer four upcoming events combining the natural world with creative expression. The missions of these two organizations lend to a fitting collaboration. CNC’s mission is to connect all people with nature through educational, recreational and cultural experiences. Creative 360’s mission is to create environments that allow people of all ages and abilities to experience the creative process, and to enhance physical, mental and spiritual wellness through the arts and humanities. All events will be held at CNC, and participants can register at www.chippewanaturecenter.org.CNC members receive a 20% discount.

Microscopic Art will be held Thursday, October 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Some of the most beautiful aspects of nature are invisible to the naked eye. Participants will look deep into our surroundings and use what they see to create art. It’s a creative mix of science, nature and art that will allow you to experience the artistry of nature in a whole new way. Participants should bring a smart phone if they have one. This program will be conducted by a CNC naturalist and Creative 360 scientist/artist Laura Vosejpka, and is open to ages 14 and older (under 18 with adult). Cost to attend is $35.

Clay Animal Rattles will be offered Thursday, November 11 and Thursday, November 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join Mel Gaal, ceramics artist from Creative 360 and a CNC naturalist as we create fun rattles based on nature shapes. Participants will hand build the rattles from clay in the first class and glaze the fired work in the second class. Finished pieces can be picked up at CNC after the second class. This event is open to ages 8 and older (under 18 with adult), and the cost to attend is $40. Participants should register by October 5.
