Endocrine Surgeon Now Welcoming Patients in Bay City

BAY CITY, Mich. – Endocrine and General Surgeon Melwyn Sequeira, M.D., is now welcoming new patients to his new satellite office in MidMichigan Health Park – Bay, located at 3051 Kiesel Road (Bangor Township) in Bay City.

Dr. Sequeira is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in endocrine surgery and surgical oncology. He is one of only a few surgeons in the state to specialize in endocrine surgery, which includes surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands using standard and minimally techniques, tumors of the salivary glands, neck dissections, minimally invasive robotic adrenal surgery, endocrine tumors of the pancreas, and endocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract.

He received his medical degree from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, and completed surgical residencies at Tata Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India; the University of Wales Hospitals and NHS Trust in the United Kingdom, and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He has completed a fellowship in surgical oncology from the Tata Memorial Hospital and went on to complete a second fellowship in endocrine surgery at the University Hospital in Lille, France. He is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and serves on the career and leadership development committee of the association. He is also a member of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons. Currently he serves as the Chief of Oncology for MidMichigan Health.

Dr. Sequeira believes the exchange of knowledge between the physician and patient builds a strong relationship. “I realize there is an abundance of resources my patients may look to when they have a concern about a medical condition,” he said. “I encourage my patients to do their research so we can have a mutually beneficial discussion. In this way, we build a strong relationship and a better plan of patient care. It is always my goal to have my patient satisfied and see a smile on their face,” he added.
