Leadership Bay County Class of 2019 and the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce announces Realtor Park groundbreaking ceremony

Bay City, MI – The Leadership Bay County Class of 2019 and the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the Reinvigoration at Realtor Park project on Friday, May 3, 2019 at
4:00 p.m. Realtor Park is located at 401 S. Henry Street, Bay City, MI.

A groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of the transformation of Realtor Park into a usable amenity for visitors and residents alike. The project will revitalize the park by installing new trees, improving maintenance, planting new grass, adding a walkway through the park, adding park benches, lighting and installing an art sculpture that will be a statement piece for Bay City. The focal point of the park will be an iconic steel sculpture created by local artist Jason Graham depicting the Saginaw River flowing out to the Saginaw Bay. “Before the Bay” will stand a monumental 16 feet tall and 6 feet wide ensuring it will be seen by passing traffic. The investment in revitalizing Realtor Park will be over $70,000.

The Reinvigoration at Realtor Park is a joint effort between the Leadership Bay County Class of 2019 and the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Gateway Corridor Beautification Committee to create renewed energy and strength in the community surrounding Realtor Park. A fundraising campaign began late in 2018 to raise much needed funds to transform the underused Realtor Park into a vibrant area. The campaign reached its crowdfunding goal of $30,000 by January 15, 2019 and received a matching grant with funds made possible by The Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Public Spaces Community Places program. Early in the campaign, the employee owners of Gougeon Brothers, Inc. enthusiastically stepped forward as the primary sponsor.
