Loons to Host 3rd Annual Pride Night
Game will be June 14th, feature postgame concert by ‘Valentiger’
MIDLAND, Mich. – The Great Lakes Loons will host their 3rd Annual Pride Night at Dow Diamond on Friday, June 14 during their game against the Dayton Dragons. The Dow Chemical Company and GLAD (Dow’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally employee resource group) are proud to once again sponsor this event with the Loons.
Dow fosters a safe, inclusive, supportive and open working environment for all employees regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. GLAD is one of ten employee resource groups at Dow, and for almost 20 years the group has been championing for the realization of a fully inclusive workplace and community.
“We’re looking forward to hosting Pride Night again here at Dow Diamond,” Loons President Brad Tammen said. “Our partnership with Dow and GLAD gives us the opportunity to continue to connect with our fans and allow our stadium to be a community gathering place for everyone in the Great Lakes Bay Region.”
The Loons, Dow and GLAD are focused on inclusion and awareness for the LGBTQIA community in the surrounding region. LGBTQIA advocacy and resource groups will be on hand throughout the concourse that night.
“Sports can bring people together and help transcend differences. MiLB Pride is putting the power of sports into action and building bridges to the LGBTQ community that didn’t previously exist,” said Vincent Pierson, director of diversity and inclusion for Minor League Baseball.
Fans interested in purchasing a Pride Night ticket package can do so for $20. The purchase gets fans a reserved box seat, as well as a Loons Pride Night t-shirt.
Jim Fitterling, Dow’s chief executive officer, will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
As part of the season-long Feel Good Fridays promotion, ‘Valentiger’ will be performing a concert after the game at field-level, with fans having access to go onto the field to enjoy the music and take part in games.
