Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra 2019-2020 Season, Soul of the Symphony, Opens with a Sweetest Day Musical Kaleidoscope
SAGINAW, Mich. (September 9, 2019) – Maestro Fouad Fakhouri opens the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra’s 84th season on Saturday, October 19 with Symphonic Kaleidoscope, featuring the SBSO’s principal cellist, Igor Cetkovic.
A true kaleidoscope of musical genres, the concert opens with Mozart’s bustling overture to his comic opera The Marriage of Figaro, followed by a modern masterpiece by Austrian classical and jazz pianist and composer Friedrich Gulda. His cello concerto, performed by SBSO principal cellist Igor Cetkovic, blurs the boundaries in musical forms and combines, in Gulda’s words, “jazz, a minuet, rock, a smidgen of polka, a march and a cadenza, with two spots where the star cellist must improvise.” The concert concludes with Beethoven’s exhuberant seventh symphony.
Celebrate Sweetest Day with the Symphony! New this season is a single ticket purchase option, or take advantage of season ticket packages, on sale through October:
- Conductor Series features all five concerts
