Awards received for Excellence in Construction include:
    • Region 7 Sunrise PACE in Fort Gratiot, Michigan won the Gold Award for best GC/CM: New Construction - $5-$10 Million.
    • Sanford Hardware in Sanford, Michigan won the Silver Award for the best GC/CM: New Construction – $1-$5 Million.

    • Red Oak Restaurant in Sanford, Michigan won the Silver Award for GC/CM: Addition/Renovation – Under $1 Million.

Region 7 Sunrise PACE in Fort Gratiot, Michigan won the Gold Award for best GC/CM: New Construction – $5-$10 Million. Sunrise PACE provides all-inclusive care to the community’s senior population under one roof. This 25,000 square foot facility houses intergenerational space, community areas, physical rehab, medical clinic, full kitchen and dining area, outdoor social space, and a 6-suite extended care facility.

Sanford Hardware in Sanford, Michigan won the Silver Award for the best GC/CM: New Construction – $1-$5 Million. As result of the 500 year flood and dam failure of 2020, Three Rivers Corporation was contracted to design and build the new Sanford Hardware in its original location. The new retail facility expanded Sanford Hardware’s footprint to 11,000 square feet with clear span retail area, back stock storage, glass cutting room, and staff amenities. The project was not only important to the store owner, but also the community as it has been a cornerstone in downtown Sanford for over 40 years.

Caro Farmers Market in Caro, Michigan won the Gold Award for best GC/CM: New Construction – Under $1 Million. For many years, the market had been moving around the community to different places, never really finding a home. The need for a permanent structure to serve as a destination for the community became apparent as the market grew in vendors and attendance. The new Timber pavilion is situated on State Street Square in Downtown Caro and will serve the community for years to come.

MidMichigan Health Heart and Vascular Center in Midland, Michigan won the Gold Award for best GC/CM: Addition/Renovation – Over $10 Million. This 170,700 square foot, three-story center of excellence provides for an enhanced patient experience by combining and consolidating services into a single facility on the MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland campus. Unique features of the Heart and Vascular Center include an indoor winter garden with live vegetation, naturally lit interior waiting rooms, and natural materials in public areas to help provide holistic care in a calm environment.

The MidMichigan Health Heart and Vascular Center in Midland, Michigan also won the Gold Award for Interior Finishing.

Red Oak Restaurant in Sanford, Michigan won the Silver Award for GC/CM: Addition/Renovation – Under $1 Million. Also impacted by the flood and dam failure in 2020, the Red Oak Restaurant underwent complete interior and exterior renovations to bring the facility back into working order less than a year after being shut down. Renovations included installing all new equipment and building a larger bar area for guests to enjoy under the original oak soffit.

The Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Award recognizes efforts of ABC members who strive to achieve effective safety practices within their companies; it is an organized approach for analyzing and developing safety and loss prevention programs. ABC provides contractors with tools to objectively evaluate their safety programs, policies, procedures and training. Three Rivers is honored to have won this award each year more than a decade.

Three Rivers employee Steve Coates was also recognized as The Craftsman of the Year. Steve is a 37 year employee at Three Rivers in the Carpentry Department. The award recognizes an individual who excels in his or her field while also demonstrating a commitment to safety, education and the merit shop philosophy.

“Steve Coates is an integral part of the team,” stated Brian Hawkins, Senior General Superintendent of Three Rivers Corporation. “He is not just a carpenter, he is depended on as a leader and mentor. He is driven, knowledgeable, and dedicated to his craft and the projects he is a part of. It is a great honor to announce Steve as this year’s Craftsman of the Year.”

“Congratulations to Three Rivers Corporation on their success at our 2021 EIC Awards,” stated Angela Madarang, President of Associated Builders and Contractors, Greater Michigan Chapter. “The ABC Greater Michigan Chapter and our region as a whole are blessed to have such a strong merit shop contractor that gives back to the community and advocates for free enterprise and merit shop principles. We are thrilled to recognize and promote the high safety standards and quality workmanship of Three Rivers Corporation and their employees.”

“This recognition caps off a great year of safely completed work that our entire team should be proud of,” said Jon Lynch, President of Three Rivers Corporation. “This past year was certainly challenging, but we were able to complete exceptional work for many communities across the state while maintaining our high safety standards.
