Second Saturday: Sam Fitzpatrick - Steve Madaj & the South End Polish Gang
Join Sam Fitzpatrick, Education Coordinator, as he takes you back 100 years ago to Bay City’s South End. In the late 1910s through the 1920s a crime spree hit the city. Steve Madaj, an orphan and a veteran of World War I, terrorized Bay City and the surrounding area. Madaj and his gang of misfits managed to stay one step ahead of the law. Bank robberies, gas station hold-ups, murders, and numerous vehicle thefts kept the citizens and authorities on edge. On top of this, Madaj escaped from prison more than once and stayed on the run. The story of Steve Madaj and the Polish South End Gang is another notorious story from Bay City’s salacious past. COST: Free
