    Job Summary: The Visitor Services team works together to welcome and orient visitors, conduct program registrations, communicate with visitors via phone, email and in-person, facilitate gift shop sales and connect visitors to other staff members. Located in the Visitor Center, this team plays a critical role in both internal and external communications. This position provides the opportunity for a flexible schedule when coordinated with other team members. Less than 20 hours each week will be pre-scheduled, normally including 3-4 weekend days each month, occasional weekdays and evening hours to support special events 1-2 times a year.
     
    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Under the supervision of the Visitor Services Coordinator, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    1. Greet, orient and count in person visitors
    2. Conduct store transactions and receive program payments
    3. Assist callers with basic information and/or route to appropriate staff
    4. Assist with registration for CNC programs
    5. Assist with donor, member and sponsor communications
    6. Process mail and ship packages
    7. Maintain the welcoming atmosphere of the Visitor Center
    8. Have an awareness of building and campus schedule
    9. Monitor two-way radios to support programs in the field
    10. Assist program staff with projects as time allows
    11. Attend bi-weekly All Staff meetings
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a public-serving office situation or other relevant experience
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate positively with a diverse population including staff, volunteers, and visitors of all ages and backgrounds
    • Computer literacy including working knowledge of Windows platform and Microsoft Office package
    • Experience and abilities in office procedures and skills, including proficiency in multifunction copier, postal meter, point of sale
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills, creativity and initiative
    Status: Part time, permanent
     
    Reports to: Visitor Engagement Coordinator
     
    Schedule: Variable hours scheduled anytime 7 days a week 8 am-5 pm including pre-scheduled weekend days
     
    Start Date: August 4, 2025; flexible
     
    Compensation & Benefits: $14 per hour, earned sick time, CNC membership, 20% discount in Nature Center Store, 10% discount on registered program member fee
