35th District Special Election
Voters in Michigan’s 35th State Senate District will return to the polls on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, for a special general election to fill a vacant seat in the Michigan State Senate. The vacancy occurred after former State Senator Kristen McDonald Rivet was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, prompting Governor Gretchen Whitmer to call a special election.
The 35th District includes portions of Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties. Residents who live within the district boundaries are eligible to vote in this election. The special primary election was held on February 3, 2026, and the special general election will be held on May 5, 2026.
