Substitute Bus Driver
Posted: 01/11/2026JOB SUMMARY: Bus drivers have the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the children, staff and volunteers during bus transportation to and from the school and on field trips. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for transportation of students; including all responsibilities connected to operating a school bus per all applicable client district policies & state/federal laws. Ability to relate to and work with parents, students, and other staff members. Conduct all pre-trip inspections as required. Follow and successfully respond to district rules and regulations. Ability to manage and maintain all students on the bus in a calm and safe manner. REQUIREMENTS: Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing per DOT regulations. Have and maintain an eligible driving record per all applicable client district policies and state/federal laws. Must pass State and FBI Criminal Background Check per MDE regulations and District policies. Ability to pass DOT physical requirements. Must obtain and maintain a valid Michigan Driver's CDL License with valid B, P and S endorsements along with airbrake endorsements. Ability to learn and pass the state test in; pre-trip (bus and equipment), cones, student pick-up, driving skills. Ability to take and pass Beginning School Bus Driver Training (once) and Continuing Education Class/Advanced School Bus Driver Training (every 2 years). Ability to tolerate stressful situations. Able to understand and have empathy for children and persons with disability. (Training would be paid by the district with a commitment to work one year as a driver. Repayment required if the year commitment is not fulfilled per United Steelworkers Bus Drivers Unit Collective Bargaining Agreement) REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation RATE OF PAY: Per United Steelworkers Bus Drivers Unit - $20.50/hour, sign on bonus after one year DEADLINE: Until filled Please send copy of resume and letter of interest via mail or email to: HR@e-hps.net
